PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a value as character information by separating the information into character information and map information on a display screen, compressing the information as required and displaying the compressed information. SOLUTION: Upon receipt of a map compression command signal 42 from a data processing circuit 22', an image compression section 40 reads map information from a 2nd memory 24b and compresses the information and provides an output of the result. Furthermore, upon the receipt of a character compression command signal 43 from the data processing circuit 22', the image compression section 40 reads character information from the 2nd memory, 24b and compresses the information and provides an output of the result. Moreover, upon receipt of a character position command signal 44 from the data processing circuit 22', the image compression section 40 obtains a display position address of the map information and the character information to be compressed and provides an output of the result. A changeover circuit 41 is connected to the data processing circuit 22' so that the character information and the map information stored in the 2nd memory 24b are directly fed to the data processing circuit 22' at all times. Upon receipt of a switching command signal 45, the image compression section 40 gives a signal to the data processing circuit section 22'. Then the signal is displayed on a display section 26 from the data processing circuit 22' in any case. |
