PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a surface having high ink-repelling property to efficiently repel ink and to obtain a wide controlling range for dampening water by incorporating a N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide copolymer into a hydrophilic swellable layer. SOLUTION: This printing plate has at least a photosensitive hydrophilic swellable layer on a substrate, and the hydrophilic swellable layer contains a N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide copolymer. The N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide copolymer is preferably a N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide/(meth)acrylate copolymer. Further, the hydrophilic swellable layer has such a phase separation structure that consists of at least two phases: a phase essentially comprising a hydrophilic polymer containing a N-vinylcarboxylic acid amide copolymer as the main component, and a phase essentially comprising a hydrophobic polymer. The hydrophobic polymer essentially consists of a latex containing a conjugate diene compd. The swelling rate for water of the hydrophilic swellable layer is 10-1000%. Thereby, printing can be performed without using a solvent such as isopropanol usually added to the dampening water. |
