PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently repel inks with a little amt. of dampening water and to increase the controlling range for dampening water by controlling each of the swelling rate of a hydrophilic swellable layer for water and the swelling rate for a water-soluble org. solvent to a specified range. SOLUTION: The swelling rate for water of a photosensitive hydrophilic swellable layer on a substrate is specified to 10-100%, while the swelling rate for a water-soluble org. solvent which can be mixed with water by a desired proportion is specified to 10-300%. If the swelling rate for water is <10%, the ink-repelling property decreases and defects such as pinholes are easily produced in a coating process. If the swelling rate for water exceeds 1000%, the shape holding property decreases. If the swelling rate for a water-soluble org. solvent which can be mixed with water by a desired proportion is <5%, the ink-repelling property decreases and defects such as pinholes are easily produced in a coating process. If the swelling rate for the water-soluble org. solvent exceeds 300%, the shape holding property decreases. |
