PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transfer the data in work line units without increasing a circuit area by sharing a serial access memory among plural divided memory cell arrays. SOLUTION: In a semiconductor device loading a RAM and a SAM obtd. bisecting the memory cell array, a register & I/O circuit 1SI functioning as the serial access memory is constituted so as to be shared with RAM memory cell arrays 1R1 and 1R2. A word line of row address 000 of the first memory cell array 1R1 is raised, and a sense amplifier of a RAM control circuit 1RCT1 is driven, and the data of the row address of the 1R1 are transferred to the register through a transfer gate 1T1 to be latched. Then, the word line of the row address 256 of the second memory cell array 1R2 is raised, and the sense amplifier of the control circuit 1RCT2 is driven, and the data of the register are transferred to the memory cell of the row address 256 of the RAM 1R2 through the transfer gate 1T2.
