Unsaturated elastomers, such as natural rubber, polybutadiene, isoprene, styrene butadiene, nitrile, ethylene, propylene, chloroprene and silicone rubber or mixtures thereof, are vulcanized without the addition of vulcanization agents or the use of radiation, using an addition of oxygen containing carbon black, such as furnace blacks and channel blacks, preferably with an oxygen content of at least 3 weight %, and the simultaneous application of high pressure and elevated temperature. |
