PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for surely inspecting contents of a bottle at a high speed. SOLUTION: A bottle 8 is rotated about its axis, light from a light source 11 is applied to the rotating bottle, and a number of times of photographic scans along substantially the overall length of the bottle are performed using color line-sensor cameras 10a to 10n used for photographing the illuminated bottle along the overall length of the bottle and on a visual line crossing the axis. Image signals corresponding to a number of picture elements aligned at every scanning line are thereby produced and assigned addresses, and a characteristic pattern for every color circuit is recognized as a collection of those image signals for every address which differ in magnitude from background image signals produced by liquid and bottle material, and the image signals constituting the recognized characteristics patterns are analyzed and, compared as to magnitude among the color circuits, and synthesized. A foreign object showing the patterns is specified for final determination of whether or not the bottled contents are acceptable. |
