[Also in Division D1] In a single phase capacitor motor having two phase windings constructed with different numbers of turns the motor can be arranged to provide a low and a high power output by connecting firstly one winding as the main phase and the other winding as the auxiliary phase and secondly by interchanging the function of the windings. As shown winding W1 has more turns than winding W3 so that low and high power outputs are obtained from the motor with the switch U connected to winding W1 or W3 respectively. The switch U in addition changes the direction of rotation of the motor. The motor may be used to drive an ironing machine, the low power position being used for the ironing operation and the high power position being used for withdrawal of the spring-loaded roller or shoe of the ironing machine. Alternatively, where the roller is not spring-loaded, high power can be used for the ironing operation and low power for the withdrawal of the roller or shoe. |
