Detachable pedal-mounting in motor vehicle

The pedal hinges on a spindle mounted in the vehicle body, and is held in place by a supporting component (2). Movement of the latter out of position can be caused by external force and/or distortion of a vehicle component, or by release of an accumulator on the vehicle. The component can be held in place by a stop, which is released by a sensor detecting excess acceleration or deceleration. The pedal spindle itself can be mounted in a bearing which is held in place by the supporting component.
