In telecommunications systems for the transmission of visual information, such as the world-wide system referred to as Internet, visual information can be called up on a screen by the user. In order to place publicity with light system-user acceptance in such a system, optionally with an easy way of ordering the product or service advertised, the invention proposes that the advertisement is transmitted as auxiliary visual information and automatically displayed in part of the display area of the screen together with other visual information over which the user can navigate without any hindrance. The size of the part of the display area in which the auxiliary information is displayed cannot be changed by the user or, alternatively, this part of the display area cannot be reduced below a certain size.
