A plate cake hub which prevents the separation of the tape from the hub. The hub is formed between annular inner and outer circumferential walls(21,22) thereof with a plurality of support ribs(23). The ribs(23) compensate the compression and the expansion of the hub due to temperature changes, thereby maintaining the winding tension of the tape be constant. The hub drop is advantageously reduced.
