The invention concerns a plug-in commutator with a hub body (1) which is made of electrically insulating material and comprises identical grooves which are uniformly disposed over its periphery and in each of which is inserted one of the identical segments (5) forming the brush contact surface, so constituting a connection interlocking in the radial direction. The segments (5) are secured against displacement relative to the hub body (1) by a clamping force which depends on an overdimensioned portion (x, z) of the segments (5) and/or of the material parts of the hub body (1) used for supporting the segments (5). The overdimensioned portion (x, z), which determines the clamping force exerted on the segments (5), is provided only in the region of the two end sections (18, 21) of the segments (5) and/or the grooves.
