A mixt. comprising a slurry of pollen in a soln. of L-sugars contg. boron cpds. and aluminium cpds. as activating substrate is new. PREFERRED - L-fucose, L-rhamnose, L-arabinose and/or L-galactose are used in amounts of 0.5-5 %. The amount of Al is 0.1-20 ppm.
