A rotary flow control valve for the heating and/or air-conditioning units fitted in motor vehicles has two bearing housings 1, 2 arranged some distance apart, each with an insertion aperture 7, 8 for the insertion of a shaft rod 11. At least one of the bearing housings 1 is provided with a penetrable sealing membrane 9 which covers its associated insertion aperture 7. This makes the valve suitable, without further modification, for connection to a shaft drive either on just one or on both sides, while ensuring the reliable sealing of the insertion aperture in the bearing housing that remains free in the case of connection on one side only.
