Sunshield at top of vehicle windscreen

The sunshield (1) is suspended from the roof of the vehicle by a bar and hinges from a shaft (12) at the bottom of this bar. The shaft has a flat face (10) against which a leaf spring (11) acts to keep the blind in position. If the shield is pulled down to an angle less than a predefined angle, the spring will snap the blind back into its stored and stable position. The angle is chosen so, that the shield will never slope down at an angle at which the head of the occupant of a front seat could hit the edge of the shield e.g. during a crash.
