Controlled gas explosion method to increase ground porosity

Method for increasing the porosity underground strata in preparation for underground decontamination processes is novel in that an underground exothermic reaction of a predetermined quantity of gaseous hydrogen and oxygen mixture is initiated in a space of restricted volume, to release a predetermined quantity of energy. The volume of the gas mixture is restricted by a metal chamber (6), with lateral slots or holes (10), which is inserted vertically into a hole (2) drilled in the ground (1), and is locked in the required position with an inflatable packing system (4,5,8).
