1,159,915. Valves. F. H. KARLSSON. 11 April, 1967 [25 April, 1966], No. 16459/67. Heading F2V. A float-operated cistern-supply valve comprises a hollow tubular body 1 closed at one end and connected at the other end, through a socket 3, to a water supply pipe 2, the body having a plurality of longitudinal slots 6 or rows of through flow apertures formed in, and spaced equi-angularly around its wall. Rotatably mounted on the hollow body is a support member 9 which carries a number of rollers 7 journalled on shafts 8 which are fixed in member 9, the rollers being adapted to roll on the outer surface of member 1 and their number being equal to the number of slots, the arrangement being such that in the valve closed position each roller closes, by a small part of its circumference, one slot. Support member 9 has fixed to it a float, (10), (Fig. 2, not shown), which float responds to changes in liquid level in the cistern 4 and so moves the rollers 7 on to or away from the slots 6, water collecting, in the latter case, in member 9 and then entering an outlet 12 from where it flows on to a channel 14 arranged to discharge the water against the inner side of cistern wall 4. Each roller has its circumference coated with rubber or equivalent yieldable material whereas the outer surface of member 1 is made relatively hard.
|
