Catalyst structure serving vehicles with high levels of hydrocarbon emission

This catalyst serves vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. It is particularly suitable for exhaust gases containing a large proportion of hydrocarbons. Its tubular casing (1) contains an arrangement of metal sheets, at least partially coated with a catalytically-active material. In this novel arrangement, the sheets are placed close to the internal surface (3) of the casing. This leaves most of the cross sectional area of the casing free of catalyst-coated metal sheet.
