In the method proposed, washing water from soil-washing plants, which consists of an oil-in-water emulsion containing solids in the form of silicaceous silt (particle size < 60 mu m), is split into its three components using cationic organic flocculation/emulsion-breaking agents the addition of which is controlled by means of the electrokinetic streaming potential, the emulsion-breaking agent being added until the streaming potential increases to a level above a first minimum value, the deflocculated oil-free silt separated off, emulsion-breaking agent again added until the streaming potential increases to a level above a second minimum value and the floating oil phase separated off. |
