Electromagnetic switching device for protection against overload currents in contactors

An electromagnetic switching device (1) with an electromagnetic system for opening and closing contacts (5,6) in normal duty and with an instantaneous release (3) or trip which opens the contacts in the event of short-circuit of overload currents. A capture device (14) is provided for holding the contacts (5,6) in the open position, after they have opened, and a first armature (13) of the instantaneous release (3) is in operative connection with a contact bridge carrier (8), via a release lever (9), and a reset lever (15) has a variable position during movement of a second armature (25) of the electromagnetic system, following switch-off of the latter, so that the first armature (13) of the release (3) is brought out of the position in which the contacts (5,6) are opened, into the output position, before response of the release(3).
