An endoscope has an objective arranged at its distal end, an image retransmitter that transmits the objective image to the proximal end and an eyepiece made of several groups through which the image transmitted by the image retransmitter is observed. The magnification of the eyepiece image is adjusted by moving at least one group of lenses and focusing is achieved by moving all groups of lenses of the eyepiece. The disclosed endoscope is characterised in that the lenses of the eyepiece that are not moved to adjust magnification are held in a first tube in which slides at least another tube for holding a group of lenses moved to adjust magnification.
