When a secondary cell requiring constant-voltage charging, such as a lithium ion cell, is charged, cell voltage charging current is detected under a predetermined condition. Charging voltage, charging or noncharging time, or the connection state of a charging circuit are controlled in accordance with the above condition. In this way, the secondary cell is charged to the full or substantially full extent, and the cell so charged can be recharged satisfactorily so as to prevent effectively deterioration of the characteristics of the secondary cell.
|
