A connecting type carrier device for a large object in which a horizontal tread for carrying a large object such as a wheel chair and a large sized cargo is caused to automatically appear without needing a particular operation and spending much time for quick loading, whereby a wheel chair can easily be loaded without help and even a large cargo can be loaded in a convenient fashion. Tracks for exclusive use are provided to normal steps, additional steps and intermediate steps, respectively, and in a slope running section, treads for carrying a large object are formed, while in a horizontal running section for loading and unloading, all the treads are set flat. All the treads are connected to each other by main line chains for driving. Alternatively, groups of treads for carrying a large object can be connected to each other by side line chains that are connected to the main line chains. The configuration of a step may be modified so that a track for main wheels does not interfere with a track for follower wheels at each step. The number of steps for a large object may be two or three and in the case of two, the transverse width of a step can be increased so that a large wheel chair can be loaded sidewise.
