A procedure for central monitoring of the function of several consumers (3) fed in parallel from single phase mains uses one monitoring module (2) per consumer, sending pulses back to the central monitoring unit (1). On reception of a pulse identifying a consumer, the central unit begins to interrogate the consumer function by interrupting the current to the consumer temporarily. This interruption is detected by the module which then begins a function test and after a period of time specific to the consumer, a set of pulse signals at mains frequency is sent down the line. The central unit returns a pulse to the consumer. |
