Power supply of a portable hand-held transmitter (H) which is used for remotely controlling a control unit (S), controlled by coded signals (C), of a device (O) or object (O), an energy reservoir mounted in the hand-held transmitter (H) being remotely recharged from time to time with electrical storage energy by the fact that the control unit (S) transmits recharging energy (E) to the hand-held transmitter (H) for limited periods by remote transmission by means of its own transmission arrangement, and the hand-held transmitter (H) has its own receiving arrangement for receiving the recharging energy (E) and for converting the recharging energy (E) into the storage energy. The control unit (S) begins to transmit the recharging energy (E) to the hand-held transmitter (H) when the control unit (S) has previously received a starting signal (C) from the hand-held transmitter (H) which requests recharging.
