PURPOSE:To obtain an aluminous sintered body having high strength at low cost without requiring severe preparation of particles in a production stage by using a compsn. contg. a specified amt. of an alkaline earth metal, a rare earth metal, etc., in an Al2O3-ZrO2 system. CONSTITUTION:An aluminous sintered body consists of 1-30wt.% ZrO2 and 70-99wt.% Al2O3 contg. further 0.01-3mol.% (expressed in terms of oxide basing on the amt. of ZrO2) at least one kind among alkaline earth metal such as Mg, Ca, etc., and rare earth metal such as La, Ce, Y, Dy, Er, Yb, etc. In the sintered body, a ratio of a peak-height (H60) of a synthesized phase of Al2O3 and ZrO2 between 59.5-61 deg. on an X-ray diffraction curve basing on Cu-Kalpha spectral line to a peak height (H43) of an alpha-Al2O3 crystallized phase between 42.5 and 44 deg. (H60/H43) is >0.07. The above described aluminous sintered body is obtd. by activating a powdery raw material mixture having an above- described compsn. by crushing in a dry process, molding the crushed product, and then calcining at <=1,500 deg.C. |
