PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing various kinds of iron-containing compound oxide powdery materials which are not the aggregates of coagulated particles but the aggregates of uniform polyhedral particles narrow in the particle distribution. SOLUTION: A method for producing the powder of an iron-containing compound oxide of formula: XO.nFe2 O3 (X is one or more kinds of elements selected from Pb, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, Zn, Cu, Mn, Fe, Co and Ni; n is an integer of 1-6), wherein the mixture of an X atom oxide with an iron oxide and/or the mixture of an X atom compound (capable of being converted into the X atom oxide)/the Fe compound in a molar ratio controlled so as to give the same X atom/Fe atom molar ratio as the molar ratio of the X atoms/Fe atoms contained in the formula: XO.nFe2 O3 is heated in an atmospheric gas containing bromine gas, iodine gas, hydrogen bromide gas or hydrogen iodide gas. |
