PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject exchange membrane having excellent monofunctional ion selective permeability, its durability and a low membrane potential in an electrodialysis, and capable of saving electric power consumption in the case of using to a salt manufacture by an electrodialysis. SOLUTION: A quaternarized material of poly-4-vinylpyridine obtained by making a quaternary pyridinium salt 35-45% of pyridine group of poly-4- vinylpyridine having 2,000-5,000 molecular weight with chloromethylstyrene and making a quaternary pyridinium salt the residual pyridine group is adsorbed on the surface of a cation exchange membrane. Then, a double bond part of the poly-4-vinylpyridine quaternarized material is polymerized to obtain a cation exchange membrane having the polymer of the quaternarized material of poly-4- vinylpyridine on the surface. |
