MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM AND ITS PRODUCTION

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium with a back coating film having high adhesive strength and less liable to peel by interposing a hard plating film between a substrate and a back coating film. SOLUTION: A Co magnetic film 2 of 200nm thickness is formed on one side of a PET film of 10μm thickness as a substrate 1 and a diamondlike carbon film (hard plating film) 3 of 10nm thickness is directly formed on the surface of the magnetic film 2. A diamondlike carbon film 4 of 100nm thickness is formed on the other side of the PET film 1 and a back coating film 5 of 400nm thickness is directly formed on the carbon film 4 by coating. The adhesive strength of the back coating film is high and the objective magnetic recording medium having satisfactory surface properties, less liable to the sticking of dust and excellent in recording and reproducing characteristics is obtd.
