摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a liquid crystal display device having high-quality display performance and improved in the display performance with respect to display quality such as the color reproducibility, the contrast characteristic and the visual angle characteristic of a displayed picture. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device is provided with a liquid crystal display element 9 to be driven for displaying the picture, optical anisotropic elements 10 and 11 having an optical axis perpendicular to the substrate surface of the element 9 and such a characterictis that its optical anisotropy is negative contrariety to a liquid crystal layer 5 and respectively arranged on the upper and the lower sides of a liquid crystal cell 6 for driving one by one, and a light control element 12 arranged below a polarizing plate 7 on a display surface side out of two polarizing plates 7 and 8 and having the anisotropy of light scattered transmissivity that the scattered transmitting intensity of light in a specified direction shows larger distribution than that in a direction other than the specified direction and the light of the direction other than the specified direction is advanced straight and transmitted.
