PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a color desired to be reproduced by the use of a printer into a preferred color or a color desired to be matched with through color image data conversion processing where basic colors (Y, M, C) corrected for each color are not in excess of a maximum gradation. SOLUTION: Image data received by a color component separate means 11 are separated into primary color components (Y, M, C), secondary color components (R, G, B) and ternary color components (BK). Then a color component configuration analysis means 12 analyzes the color component configuration number of the separated image data as to whether it is 1-component configuration, 2-component configuration or 3-component configuration. A color space desired for reproduction is assumed to be a 3-dimensional space, and received image data coordinates are transformed into coordinates in a color space desired to be reproduced. Since color correction arithmetic units 13, 14, 15, 16 apply color correction arithmetic processing to each component configuration based on a lookup table 17 prepared for each color component, the result of arithmetic operation is an output within a maximum gradation and then color consecutiveness in the reproduced output of a printer is not lost. |
