PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain sufficient braking force even when pedal footing force is short at the time of applying an emergency brake operation, and prevent the emergency brake operation from being released by mistake when the emergency brake is applied. SOLUTION: When a driver applies an emergency brake operation by depressing a brake pedal at the operating speed equal to or more than a first pedal footing stroke speed with a pedal footing force greater than a reference pedal footing force, an electronic control device allows both a first and a second closing valve to be turned on, and the emergency brake is thereby started in operation. A reference footing force is set to be a comparatively great first constant reference force F1 before the emergency brake is applied, and is set to be a second reference footing force F2 smaller than the first constant reference force F1 after the emergency brake has been started. The pedal footing force is decreased because of penetrating the brake pedal at the time of applying the emergency brake, however, since the reference footing force is decreased, the pedal footing force will never be smaller than the reference footing force F. Therefore, since the first and second closing valves are not turned off, the emergency brake is not released at all, the operations are thereby held continued. |
