PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a dense ceramic sintered compact from a fly ash as an industrial waste by blending the fly ash from a fluid catalytic cracker with a binder and then baking the resultant mixture. SOLUTION: This ceramic sintered compact is a sintered compact of a composition containing at least (a) 20-100wt.% fly ash from a fluid catalytic cracker with (b) <=80wt.% binder. The following blend using a sintering accelerator as an additional component is preferred: (a) 20-95wt.% fly ash from the fluid catalytic cracker, (b) <=80wt.% binder and (c) 3-25wt.% sintering accelerator (e.g. limestone, kaolin, wood ash or soda ash). The ceramic sintered compact is produced by kneading a mixture containing the fly ash, the binder or the binder and a sintering accelerator and water, forming the resultant kneaded material, drying the formed compact and then baking the compact at 1000-1500 deg.C. |
