PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently obtain the subject compound for synthetic intermediate for medicines, agrochemicals, etc., by reacting racemic modification of a trans-2- alkoxycyclohexanol with an enzyme derived from a microorganism capable of esterifying only R configuration in the presence of an acyl donor. SOLUTION: A compound, (±)-trans-2-alkoxycyclohexanol expressed by formula I [R' is a lower alkyl, an alkenyl, a cycloalkyl, a (substituted)aryl or a (substituted)aralkyl] is reacted with a hydrolase derived from a microorganism having a stereospecific esterifying ability on R isomer in the presence of an acyl donor under conditions in which hydrolysis does not occur to afford an (S,S)-2-alkoxycyclohexanol expressed by formula II and a carboxylic ester of (R, R)-2-alkoxycyclohexanol of formula III (R<2> is H, a 1-17C alkyl or a 2-17C alkenyl), and then, the compound of formula III is collected to provide the objective optically active 2-alkoxycyclohexanol useful as a synthetic intermediate, etc., for medicines, agrochemicals, etc. |
