PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the addition of an auxiliary material consisting mainly of a silicon containing material to shaft furnace fused slug in specific amounts at specific spots, and the efficient mixing of them by determining spots and amounts for charging the auxiliary material by a specific method in a process where the auxiliary material is added to the shaft furnace fused slug in an electric furnace having three electric poles and they are fused and mixed. SOLUTION: An auxiliary material (e.g. a silicon-containing material) is added to a shaft furnace fused slug in an electric furnace having three electric poles 2 and they are fused and mixed. In this process, the current density between the poles 2 is determined by calculation and spots having a large current density are made spots where the auxiliary material is charged. Further, a charging amount at each charging spot is adjusted in accordance with the density (e.g. three spots marked with circles○are suitable for charging the auxiliary material).
