PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a color filter with which a liquid crystal display device having excellent display quality and reliability can be easily produced by forming a spacer of laminated color layers on a resin black matrix and on the area corresponding to the sealing part of the peripheral part of the frame and forming an insulating part op a transparent substrate corresponding to the position of the spacer. SOLUTION: In this color filter, a resin black matrix 2 forms the matrix in the display region 16, a frame 17 on the peripheral part of the display area, and an independent pattern 15 formed on area corresponding to the sealing part 18 on the edge of the frame. Color layers 3-5 of three primary colors are laminated on the pattern 15 to form a spacer 14. The color liquid crystal display device is produced by disposing the color filter and a transparent electrode substrate facing each other. Not only the transparent electrode, but a thin film transistor element, thin film diode element, scanning line, signal line wiring and insulating part are formed on the transparent electrode substrate. |
