PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately extract a single area. SOLUTION: An input signal 10 is divided into plural areas by initial separation through a feature point detection circuit 11 and a snake algorithm processing circuit 12 and supplied to an area signal generating circuit 13A. The circuit 13A sets respectively different area labels in respective areas and generates an area signal D13. An adjacent detecting circuit 14A detects an adjacent state among the areas. An area characteristic value calculating circuit 15A calculates the characteristic values of respective areas. An area integration evaluating circuit 16A judges whether adjacent areas are to be integrated or not based upon the detection result of the circuit 14A and the characteristic values of respective areas. An area integrating circuit 17A executes area integrating processing correspondingly to the integration judging result. An area processing circuit 18 applies prescribed processing to an integrated area signal D17 obtained by the integrating processing and a multiplexing circuit 19 multiplexes a feature point signal D11 and an area processing signal D18 and outputs the multiplexed signal. |
