PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable having high resistance against spread of flames and generation of smoke. SOLUTION: In a flame-proof communication cable 20, a flame-proof thermoplastic material to be used for an insulating layer 34 consists of a a mixture of a first inorganic oxide component and a second inorganic oxide component. The first inorganic oxide component is melted when being exposed to a temperature at about 350 deg.C and on the hand, the second inorganic oxide component starts crystallizing at about 650 deg.C. The layer of the flame-proof thermoplastic insulating material is effective when the cable is exposed to a temperature at about 350 deg.-1000 deg.C, thermally insulates a core from thermal energy, and bears a coating in a sufficient thickness with which generation of a flammable gas and smoke is suppressed to the minimum level. |
