PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new steroid glycoside which is obtained by extraction of a plant in liliaceae plant and is a specific steroid glycoside, shows high anticancer action and high immunosuppression with high safety and is useful as an active ingredient for anticancer and immunosuppression agent. SOLUTION: This new steroid glycoside is expressed by formula I [R<1> is a saccharide residue which may have an acyl group such as formula II; R<2> is a saccharide reside which may have an acyl group of formula III (R<2a> is H, 3, 4, 5-trimethoxybenzoyl); R<3> is H, a lower alkyl]. It shows excellent anticancer action and high immunosuppression and is useful as an active ingredient for anticancer agent or anti-immunosuppression agent. This compound is obtained by cutting fresh scaly bulbs of a liliaceae plant, Onityhogalum saundersiae into fine pieces, soaking them in warm methanol, removing the solvent, subjecting the residue to liquid-liquid extraction with butanol-water and purifying the butanol layer through column chromatography. |
