PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove an oxidizing material and selenium from a waste stack gas desulfurization effluent in one process. SOLUTION: The waste stack gas desulfurization effluent discharged from a stack gas desulfurizer for removing SOx in the waste gas is treated by this method. A specified metal or metal compd. is brought into contact with the effluent or the soln. or slurry of the metal compd. is mixed with the effluent in a first stage. The effluent is brought into contact with activated carbon in the presence of the metal ion dissociated in the first stage. A precipitate is formed, and the effluent is separated into a concd. liq. contg. the precipitate and the treated water with the concn. of the precipitate lower than that of the concd. liq. in a third stage. Consequently, the oxidizing material and selenium in the effluent are removed. The first stage is performed in a reaction tank 14, the second stage in an activated carbon tank 16 and the third stage in a pH regulating tank 18 and a settling tank 20. |
