PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance ink jet efficiency to enable low voltage driving by allowing the deformation of a membrane piezoelectric element to directly act on an ink chamber. SOLUTION: An ink jet recording apparatus is equipped with a top plate 20 having a plurality of grooves 21 formed thereto, and the substrate 22 covering the groove forming surface of the top plate 20 to form ink chambers 23 in the grooves 21 and the flexible membrane piezoelectric elements 24 having flexibility provided on the substrate 22. Voltage is applied to the membrane piezoelectric elements 24 corresponding to an image signal to deform the piezoelectric 24 and the vols. of the ink chambers 23 are changed by this deformation to pressurize the ink in the ink chambers 23 and the ink is injected from the nozzles 36a formed to the ink chambers 23.
