PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a room lamp controller for vehicle which can control change-over between on and off of a room lamp quite easily and securely by detecting reflected light from a reflecting body such as a hand or paper by approaching the reflecting body for an optical sensor as a switch body up to a predetermined distance. SOLUTION: A room lamp controller for vehicle has a constitution in which a room lamp 2 is provided in an opening 1a of a lamp mounting base 1 and is supported by a lamp cover 2a in such a way that it can turn freely and an optical sensor 4 is held by a support section 1c in an opening 1b of the lamp mounting base 1. The room lamp controller detects reflected light reflected by a reflecting body such as hand or paper when the reflecting body approaches the optical sensor 4 up to a predetermined distance to control change-over between on and off of the room lamp 2.
