PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of necessary light paths in the network by setting a stand-by light path for relieving an in-use optical transmission line which is affected by trouble if an arbitrary single optical transmission line gets out of order. SOLUTION: Light paths 71 and 72 which are so set as to decrease the total number of light paths 51-60 connecting nodes having optical cross-connection devices 11-19 are set as in-use paths. Assuming that a fault occurs at one place on every optical transmission lines 31-42 as to the set in-use paths, in-use by-pass paths which are included in all the light paths 51-60 in a faulty optical transmission line and by-pass paths which minimize the total number of light paths 51-60 including the light paths of the in-use paths that do not pass through the faulty optical transmission line are set as stand-by paths for the in-use paths in case of fault occurrence. Consequently, the use efficiency of the light paths 51-60 is increased and the number of the necessary light paths in the network can be decreased. |
