The present invention relates to a process for producing using CFC-J11 (KFCC 10796), a streptomycin resistant Brevibacterium lactofermentum. L-glutamic acid is produced by aerobically culturing CFC-J11(KFCC 10796) in a molasse medium containing excess of biotin by adding polyoxyethylene glycol fatty acid ester or polyoxyethylene sorbitan fatty acid ester, followed by accumulating and collecting L-glutamic acid.
