A plastics frame (6) runs along the edge inside the tank cap (1) with a first metal hinge part (2), the cap fitted with an outer sheet metal cover (4) joined to the frame (6). Sectors of the hinge part (2) reach into the plastics of the frame which, in turn, has bent sectors (7) both sides of the hinge so the opposite ends of the hinge bend into the sectors, and possibly extend past them. The outer edge of the cover at right angles to this, is narrower than the frame width viewed at right angles to the cap plane. The frame has bearings (12) at the ends (13) and the second hinge part (3) has side parts (14) which form the axial bearing for the tank cap (1). An opening (18) in the first hinge part bears when closed against the second hinge part and is so sprung onto the first hinge as to move the cap open. The first hinge also has stops (19) which engage openings (20) in hinge when the cap is open and in this way prevent excessive opening of the cap but hold it open. Cover and frame are joined by putty or adhesive for preference, or again tongues (8) on the cover are bent round the frame to hold frame and cover together. |
