The transmission indicator of an automobile has a function of sensing the running state of the automobile in which a manual transmission gear is mounted, during running, to indicate an appropriate gear stage number on a predetermined position of a cluster. The transmission indicator of the automobile comprises: a shift controller(14) for outputting a predetermined shift control signal to perform a logic process operation for setting an appropriate gear stage number to a current running state, based upon a current throttle opening value sensing signal from a throttle position sensor(10) and a current speed sensing signal form a speed sensor(12); a logic circuit(16) for logically processing the shift control signal to output the logic signal indicating a predetermined gear stage number; and a display driving controller(18) for controlling a display(20) to display the gear stage number based upon the logic signal from the logic circuit(16).
