1,218,946. Sliding jaw clamps; resisting pivoting. G. DONZELLE. 6 May, 1968 [8 May, 1967], No. 21336/68. Headings E2B and E2F. [Also in Divisions A4, A5 and H5] A stretcher 6, Fig. 3, consisting basically of a main frame 41 with articulation points 43 and 44, is anchored through a suction cup 56, engaging teeth 57 and 58 providing for minor adjustments of position. The stretcher is raised and lowered independently at each end by jacks (not shown) acting through base plates 63. The shoes 59 can slide freely along their rail 60 when locking pin 61 has been removed. Withdrawal of pin 65, however, causes the rail 60 to pivot about pin 64, so that the transverse rail 53 falls away from the hooks 54 and the stretcher is freed for rotational movement. The patient can be turned over by bringing up a second stretcher 73, Fig. 4, and mutually rotating the two stretchers to effect the turning of the patient's body. The stretchers are held in clamps 71, 72, respectively, locked by a latch 82, their relative movement is produced by rotating the hand wheel 79, and displacement of a retractable locking pin 83 releases the shaft 70 for rotational movement in bearing 67. |
