<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain a running cost reduction and maintenance improvement through the long life of an intermediate transfer body and a cost reduction through the omission of a cleaning member by cleaning the intermediate transfer body smoothly and efficiently without a special and dedicated cleaning member, in an image forming device using the intermediate transfer body. SOLUTION: In this image forming device in which a toner image formed on a first image-carrier 1 is primarily transferred onto the intermediate transfer body 5 and then secondarily transferred to a second image-carrier P, thereby performing image formation, the intermediate transfer body 5 is cleaned (subjected to cleaning transfer) by transferring excess toner on the intermediate transfer body 5, remaining after the secondary transfer and in the case of jamming, onto the first image-carrier. Here, the volume resistivity of the intermediate transfer body 5 is 10<3> -10<12>Ωcm, and a bias which is applied to the intermediate transfer body 5 at the time of the primary transfer and at the time of cleaning transfer is equal to or lower than Paschen's discharge voltage.</p> |
