PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form stable oil films in the thrust bearing of an especially large rotating machine, by deforming protrusively the rest plates of the thrust bearing even when starting the rotating machine. SOLUTION: A thrust bearing of a rotating machine adapted to bear in a slidable way a thrust collar attached to the rotary shaft of the rotating machine by a plurality of sector rest plates 4 disposed radially around the rotary shaft, wherein heating means 10a, 10b for heating the sliding surface portion of each rest plate 4 are provided in each rest plate 4 contacted in a slidable way with a rotary plate disposed on the lower end surface of the thrust collar. |
