PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain expanded data which are rotated at a specific angle at a high speed when bit map data are compressed and then expanded. SOLUTION: A recognizing means 6 recognizes the size of data in bit map form to be compressed and the possible size of data that can be rotated by a rotating means 5, a compressing means 2 compresses generated data in bit map format according to the size of the data in bit map form and the possible size of rotation by the rotating means 5, and a transfer means transfers the data in bit map form compressed by the compressing means 2 to an output device. Then the compressed data are expanded to obtain 90 deg.-rotated data.
