PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sintered cadmium negative electrode manufacturable in a simple process and its manufacturing method by which both high capacity of an alkaline storage battery, an improvement in oxygen gas absorbing capacity at rapid charging time and restraint of blocking-up of a negative electrode can be realized by restraining blocking-up of a negative electrode active material by metallic Cd, and improving oxygen gas absorbing capacity. SOLUTION: A prescribed quantity of a cadmium active material is filled in a nickel sintered base board by a chemical impregnating method. A plate in which this active material is filled is formed by performing charge and discharge of the plate in an alkaline aqueous solution, and after a prescribed quantity of precharge is performed, it is washed by water, and is dried. Next, the plate is dried after being is soaked in solution by dissolving polyvinyl pyrolidone in water. Then, it is dried after being soaked in a dispersing liquid by dispersing a fluororesin in water. In a cadmium plate manufactured according to this manufacturing method, polyvinyl pyrolidone is arranged on a surface of a base negative electrode, and polytetrafluoroethylene is arranged on its outside. |
